Iris Cohen discovered yoga 20 years ago when a friend recommended yoga as an antidote to raising three boys and deadline magazine journalism. As life or karma would have it, her very first class was in a tiny studio in Sag Harbor with Colleen Saidman. She has practiced and studied ever since with Colleen, and Rodney Yee, Elena Brower and Ellen Saltonstall, who ushered her into a world of study that would sustain her through life’s many challenges with presence and awareness.
She founded Be True Yoga in 2010 in Scarsdale, New York to create a nurturing space to access the transformational power of yoga, meditation and sustainable wellness. Now living in New York City and Sag Harbor, she continues that mission teaching classes, leading retreats and workshops often collaborating with practitioners in other modalities, including meditation, life coaching, sound healing and nutrition.
