If you’re interested in becoming more confident in or refining your handstand practice, please join Andrew Pyo in-studio or over Zoom. In this workshop, you will explore handstand from different orientations, utilize props and practice drills and variations. Learn alignment, techniques, and tricks to stay upside down longer, kick up to handstand in the middle of the room and away from the wall, jump from Downward Dog to Handstand, and press up from Bakasana! Discover three other types of handstands: tuck, straddle and pike. Come with a friend to the workshop and begin to safely spot each other upside down.

We will also review the benefits associated with handstand, which include increasing circulation, joint health, energy levels, strength, and flexibility (and change of perspective and orientation). Developing an alignment-based practice can reverse the gravitational pull on the hips, knees, ankles, and vertebrae while honing balance and confidence.

It is recommended that participants already have an inversion practice that allows them to kick up into handstand against the wall.

This workshop is not recommended for individuals with high blood pressure, history of stroke or heart disease, pregnancy beyond the first trimester, eye disorders, spinal problems or neck pain, dizziness, head injuries, inner ear problems, hiatus hernias or osteoporosis.
