Meditation & Sense of Humor

There are so many benefits and promises attached to the marketing of meditation these days – a clearer mind, mitigating stress and anxiety, less emotional reactivity, better sleep, more productive at work – on and on. Sounds amazing! We may even practice mediation with the ambition to achieve some higher or more blissful state… better than drugs even. But what if the practice allows all our submerged conflicts, dramas and fixations to come to the surface of our awareness and be seen clearly. What if we get bored, irritated or frustrated? Will we demand our money back? Do we have to lose our sense of humor completely to attain enlightenment?

Session will include talk, discussion, meditation instruction and practice.

“It is impossible to overcome passion, aggression, and ignorance with a long face. We have to cheer up. When you begin to see yourself fully and thoroughly, then you discover your sense of humor. It is not the same as telling bad jokes. Humor here is natural joy, the joy of reality.” – Chogyam Trungpa
